|MASTERPIECE Global Season Launch – August 1
The MASTERPIECE season launch is less than 1 week away!
On August 1 at Noon ET, FIRST will be making all of the season resources public on the www.firstlegoleague.org and www.firstinspires.org websites. Please encourage your teams to sign up for the season launch tune in reminder so they don’t miss the big reveal.
We’re excited to excited to welcome everyone back for the 2022/2023 season. We are planning to host in-person events in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, and surrounding areas. More details we be announced as we approach the official kickoff for each of the programs.
It is with the utmost regret that we have to announce that the Canadian Rockies Regional has been cancelled for the 2022 season. This is due to the uncertainty of the current COVID-19 situation in Alberta. At this time we can not safely run an event under the Alberta Covid legislation. Due to the extensive planning and costs for both the teams and FIRST Alberta, we don’t want to plan anything at the significant risk of it being cancelled last minute.
For any teams interested in continuing the 2022 FRC season FIRST will be individually reaching out to you to update your event preferencing. For any teams that would be interested in partaking in a virtual FTC event, FIRST AB would like to invite you to contact info(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)ftcalberta.ca for any assistance you may need changing events.
We wish all teams the best of luck in the future and look forward to seeing you in 2023
The 2021/2022 FIRST Tech Challenge has been revealed, watch the announcement on YouTube.
We are hoping to hold in-person competitions, we will be following all public health recommendations and update our plans accordingly. If you have any questions please feel free to email us at FTC(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)firstalberta.ca
Dear FIRST community in Alberta,
As you well know, the COVID-19 pandemic has been affecting all of our lives recently, and despite efforts
in Alberta to reduce its impact, the case numbers continue to climb. The Government of Alberta has been
closely monitoring the situation and has continued to provide guidance to all organizations across the
province as we all struggle to envision what the near future will bring.
The Board of Directors of First Robotics Society met to discuss all our options for this coming season, but
unfortunately there really aren’t many. Therefore, for the 2020-2021 FIRST Robotics season FRS will not be
holding any in-person competitions, demonstrations, workshops, or any other other event that has people
in the same space and will not sanction or sponsor any in-person events. FRS will however support virtual FIRST
programs during this season.
If you have a team that can meet in a safe way and wish to compete in a FIRST virtual competition or
event, please let us know, as we will help facilitate any virtual competitions that FIRST develops. As of
now, we are working on supporting the FTC level virtual competition being developed by FIRST, and look
forward to supporting it if we have enough teams interested. Please do make sure that you are following
all safety guidelines published by the Government of Alberta. Student safety should be the primary factor
when planning anything this season.
Also our core FRS volunteers are working on ideas to support remote education and other ideas for
online delivery, so we do hope to have some things available during the course of the year.
Please keep safe, and let’s all look forward to being able to resume competitions.
