FIRST LEGO League Challenge

Designed for students ages 4-16*

FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) gives students ages 4-16 and their adult Mentors the opportunity to work and create together to solve a common problem. There are 3 FIRST® LEGO® League divisions: Discover, Explore and Challenge.  FIRST Alberta is the host for the Explore and Challenge competitions.

FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge for ages 9-16, grades 4-8*: Challenged to research a real-world problem, then create an original solution for that problem, plus design and build a robot using a LEGO® Spike Prime kit within a common set of rules to accomplish “missions” on a playing field, brings out the best in students. The theme changes each season, requiring teams to be extraordinarily creative. *The grades and ages are somewhat flexible based on youth ability & skills with Lego and/or prior knowledge & access.

FIRST Alberta brings your student the opportunity to join an FLL Challenge Robotics Team that will design and build a LEGO® Mindstorms® EV3 or Spike Prime Robot to compete in a FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge Competition.
