Hello All,

The FRC Practice Field at Ambyint’s facility is now open for teams to use. Please see the following page for the practice field schedule and for instructions on how to sign your team up to use the space:

We have a special announcement to make for FRC teams in the Calgary area. This year, we have partnered with a fantastic sponsor Ambyint, to build and provide for FRC teams, a competition spec practice field.

Ambyint is providing us with an amazing space in their facility, and we will be building a FIRST Stronghold specification practice field for all FRC teams in the Calgary area to come and use to practice with. We’re already in the process of acquiring and building the game obstacle pieces.

Our plan is to have this space available to teams starting in the last week of January. Teams can use this space free of charge during our scheduled practice times. We’ll be posting plenty of information in the next week about the details of this space on our website under the “FRC Team Resources” page:

Today’s FRC 2016 FIRST STRONGHOLD KickOff & QuickBuild Event was a huge success. We had almost 20 teams comprised of over 150 students, mentors, parents, and coaches assembled at SAIT Polytechnic in Calgary to watch the KickOff livestream and participate in the QuickBuild.

Special thanks to all the SAIT staff and students who helped us put on this great event. Our photos of the event are now posted to our Facebook page, check them out here:

In other news, Robot in 3 Day builds have commenced. In Calgary there are two teams working on this, and it is a great resource for FRC students to learn from. You can find more info on these teams and their builds on our Robot in 3 Day page:

We are less than 24 hours away from the launch of the 2016 FRC challenge FIRST Stronghold. Here in Calgary, we’ve been busy at SAIT making preparations for our KickOff event. We’ve got a great A/V setup to watch the broadcast on big screens, and we’ve got plenty of space for our teams to work on their robot kits once the competition is announced.

We’ll be operating out of the SAIT Aldred Building Food Court and Rooms CA 117 and CA 119. If you’d like to attend, RSVP using the following link:
Calgary FRC KickOff

FRC Teams should aim to arrive by 7:45 AM to get set up and comfortable. General public are free to come any time after 8 AM.

The event is free for the public to attend, however attendees should be aware that parking on SAIT campus lots requires payment. Details on parking locations, where to find the Aldred Building, as well as public transit access can be found on SAIT’s campus map page:
